DETAILS ABOUT Navigateurs de la
littérature
WHO MAY
JOIN?
Our Navigateurs de la littérature French Book Club welcomes new and
returning members...even in the middle of a story! We are a friendly group
reading and discussing real French literature in a relaxed atmosphere. While
many of us are students at AFMSP in the second, third, and fourth years,
everyone is welcome to try it!
HOW MUCH
DOES IT COST?
It is FREE! You can
purchase copy of the current book at a local bookstore, or order it
online. Sometimes the stories are available on the internet, or you might
be able to borrow it from a library.
WHERE DO
WE MEET?
Normally, we meet
every first Wednesday of the month from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at the Alliance
Française; however, when AFMSP does not have classes in session, we meet in an
alternate location.
WHAT DO
WE READ?
Stories, novels,
plays, essays, and poems are chosen by the members. Members sometimes bring pictures, photos,
maps, or articles to share more information about the current selection. The selection is made by the people who show
up at the meeting when we select the next book.
WHAT
HAPPENS AT THE MEETING?
We take turns
reading one page at a time. If there is a lot of dialogue, we might read a
selection by taking the parts of different characters. Before going on to the
next page, we make sure everyone has a grasp of the meaning. Our discussion is in French as much as
possible!
CURIOUS?
If you have any
questions about Navigateurs
de la littérature and/or
would like to be on the email "reminder" list, please write to me,
Maggie Catambay, at <m-cata@umn.edu>.
