Enjoy Les Misérables!

Did you know that AFMSP has been given a special rate of $75/ticket to see Les Misérables at Orpheum Theater on Dec 27 ? Included in this offer is a chance to meet with a cast member at AFMSP before the show. If you don’t have your tickets already, grab them here by Dec 16 – it’s a great deal!

3 reasons why I love Les Misérables

  1. I first encountered Victor Hugo’s classic tome, Les Misérables, in a French collège in the ’90s. When I read it, I felt an intense connection to all those who have ever struggled to carry on with everyday life in abnormal times. Les Mis is an epic saga of broken dreams, passion, love, and sacrifice – set against the backdrop of the revolutionary fever that surrounds the characters.

2. This book led me to imagine Jean Valjean’s entire adult life: a life of forgiveness and redemption set in the time of Napoleon III. This book is such a treasure! It reminds us that no matter what tragedies we experience, we only get to choose how we live through this period of life.

3. This world-renowned, historical novel is full of unforgettable and inspiring quotes, no matter what language you read it in:

  • You who suffer because you love, love still more. To die of love is to live by it.”
  • “Laughter is sunshine, it chases winter from the human face.”
  • Love each other dearly always. There is scarcely anything else in the world but that: to love one another.
What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn’t every war fought between men, between brothers?”

Just in time for the holidays…
