LET’S DANCE! Togo - Hommage en musique !

Join us in the Grande Salle for the final celebratory event of the Mois de la Francophonie - a music concert paying “Hommage au Togo” ! We will be hearing traditional Togolese music from four Togolese musicians: Benbeni, Fanny, Marceline, and Kofi Faya! This will be a festive closing night on a beautiful month of cultural exchange between the Alliance and the Togolese community in Minnesota!

L’Étranger: The Outsider’s Gaze - Exposition de Melissa Sisk

Embark on a visual odyssey of illustrations and screen prints inspired by Melissa’s summer in Toulouse and Southern France in 2023. These pieces offer diverse perspectives — capturing the outsider's view of France, inviting the viewers (you!) to reverse roles and become the outsider, and prompting reflection on the complexities of observing and being observed.

Join us on Wednesday, May 8 for Faut qu'ça jazz, the 15th annual gala benefit of Alliance Française Mpls/St Paul! Inspired by Paris' early embrace of the Jazz Age - from les années folles of the 1920s to the height of the jazz manouche scene of the 1930s, our annual event will feature a lively jazz trio, gorgeous views of Minneapolis and the Mississippi River, live and silent auctions, fine French wines, and a gourmet meal.

Join us online for a literary discussion with Togolese author Edem Awumey in which we discuss his oeuvre Noces de coton (2022) in relation to the rest of his works! The author will be in conversation with Joëlle Vitiello, Professor and Chair of French and Francophone Studies Department at Macalester College. We will also welcome Stéphanie Leclerc-Audet, Project Manager at the Centre de la francophonie des Amériques.

Ciné Club - "Interdit aux chiens et aux Italiens"

Join us at the Alliance for a Francophone movie night as we watch Interdit aux chiens et aux Italiens, directed by Alain Ughetto.

Winner of many awards, including the Jury Award at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, this stop-motion animated film tells the story of the director’s piedmontese grandparents, Luigi and Cesira, in their migration from Italy to France through the Swiss Alps.
