In his talk Amato will puzzle out his three of his paths to becoming French: how as a young man studies took him to the Université of Laval, where he learned to think and write about varied French cultures; then how as a researcher he discovered his own family roots in Nova Scotia and his family’s expulsion to Massachusetts and its migration to Maine and then Wisconsin; and finally how today he is becoming a Minnesota Métis with a fictional creation, called Buffalo Man.

Come explore your own paths to becoming French through birth, language, travel, and books.
