Welcoming Refugees: Lessons of the European Crisis from a French Perspective with Pascal Brice

Join Alliance Française Mpls/St Paul for a conversation with Pascal Brice, Director General of OFPRA, the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons. We invite you to this Marianne Midwest talk on the current situation of refugees in France and Europe.

Marianne Midwest is a series of web debates on contemporary topics produced annually by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in Chicago in partnership with the France Chicago Center at the University of Chicago and the Alliance Française de Chicago to bring together American and French points of view. The talk takes place in Chicago, but join AFMSP for an interactive live stream of the talk followed by a Q&A.

Pascal Brice has served as Director-General of OFPRA (French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons) since December 2012. While overseeing OFPRA, asylum claims continue rising in France and tensions are growing in Europe over the issue.

In response to this pressure, OFPRA is expanding its presence in France, Europe, the Near East, and Africa. Under Mr. Brice’s direction, the organization is modernizing and expanding its operations. Over the past few years, its workforce has doubled to more than 800 officials.

To learn more about the refugee and asylum situation in France and Europe, join us for this conversation in the Alliance Française Grande Salle. During the Q&A portion, audience members may submit questions to Chicago. Select questions will be chosen and answered by M. Brice.

Note: This conversation will be in English.
