Landmark Center

This year, Landmark Center’s popular Urban Expedition program enters its 14th year! The series provides families an opportunity to learn about other nations and cultures from Saint Paul’s backyard. Urban Expedition offers cultural experiences through music, dance, crafts and food from destination countries across the globe.

Urban Expedition: France

This year, Urban Expedition celebrates France on Sunday, May 20th from 1 – 3 pm. The Alliance Française and our community members present you with a variety of activities and entertainment for the afternoon. Crêpes from Meritage will be available for purchase. There will also be a cider tasting from Panache.

From the stage, Philippe Gallandat will serenade  our audience with traditional French songs, followed by dance performances from both the Saint Paul Ballet and Afoutayi Haitian Dance Troupe. Local accordeonists Dan Newton and Mark Stillman will each make appearances.  Other activities include a petting zoo, a display of vintage French fashion. There will also be booths from Twin Cities French and francophone cultural organizations.

Along with music, crafts, and food, each Urban Expedition features language lessons. Stop at the Alliance’s table to learn or review French expressions for children and adults alike. So, venez nombreux and everyone can brush up on their French!

This event is FREE and open to the public.

At Urban Expedition, everyone receives a “passport” complete with their own photo. After your passport is printed, use it throughout the series to collect stamps as you cross the globe. Don’t miss your French stamp on the 20th!
