Ce soir! French author Sylvie Tissot Visits for Minnesota Première of her latest documentary

What differences exist between French and American feminism? What is material feminism? Who was Christine Delphy?

Marking its Minnesota première at Alliance Française, “Je ne suis pas féministe, mais…” will screen in the Alliance Française Grande Salle at our location on 113 1st St N, Minneapolis. Sylvie Tissot, a professor at Paris-8 and current visiting scholar at Harvard’s Center for European Studies and the Institute for Public Knowledge at New York University, will be present to introduce her latest film.

The 2015 documentary details the life, work, and message of French leader Christine Delphy, a key figure and founding member of the French Women’s Liberation Movement and the “Red Lesbians” during the 1970s.

Tissot began her sejour in the Twin Cities earlier this afternoon by a conference entailing Gay-Friendliness in the United States and France: A Comparative Study of Neighborhoods in New York and Paris.

Tonight, beginning at 7 pm, will be a chance to view the film in the presence of author, political scientist, and documentarian Sylvie Tissot. Tissot will not only provide an introduction to her 52-minute film, but a Q&A session and service of refreshments will follow the screening.

Attendees are encouraged to RSVP by calling 612 332 0436, but tickets are also available at the door.
