Rediscover the beauty of the Twin Cities

Impressionism and the life’s work of Antoni Beltowski

One June 4, 2019, we were honored to host Polish-American painter Antoni Beltowski and exhibit his paintings for an evening celebrating Franco-Polish friendship. The date of this vernissage is important, as it marks the 30th anniversary of the first democratic elections in Poland following World War II.

Antoni hails from Kakow, Poland, where he studied painting at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts. He left his homeland to come to the United States in the 1980s. Since moving to the United States, his works have been displayed at a variety of exhibitions, including California Dreaming in San Diego and La Jolla (1993-1994), Lakes and Landscapes of Old Minneapolis (1990), the New York Metropolitan Museum (1993).

To re-encounter a familier world in a new light is a delightful experience. Antoni’s Monet-inspired work provides an impressionist perspective of the Twin Cities and the surrounding metropolitan area. His artwork allows the spectator to see Minnesota through the delicate and enchanting lens of dynamic light and texture. He typically works outdoors, so as to better incorporate natural beauty into his artwork.

While the reception lasted a single day, Antoni’s artwork will be on display until July 7, 2019 in La Galerie. The pieces in the exhibit are also available for purchase. Come be awed by a master at work!
