P’tit Dèj: First Saturdays

Pratiquez votre français en savourant un bon café et des viennoiseries !
Speak French while savoring a good coffee and tasty treats!

Join us every first Saturday of the month for this informal conversation group.

Our former hosts Fiddlehead Coffee Co. are in the process of moving and re-opening, so for December Petit Déj we will meet at Old Abe Coffee Shop at 832 7th Street Northwest, Rochester, MN 55901. Please send any suggestions or requests for a location change for future Petit Déj conversation groups to Sara. We hope to return to Fiddlehead in January, but appreciate Old Abe’s hospitality! On apprécie aussi vos suggestions !

Date de sortie: 1955

Wednesday, January 16 at 6:30 pm
Release date: 1955

Synopsis:

Jean-Pierre Melville’s Bob le Flambeur has a good claim to be the first film of the French New Wave, the experimental French cinema movement that included iconic classics such as Pierrot le Fou and À Bout de Souffle.
Watch as Bob the high-roller of Montmartre wins big at the races, only to lose it all at roulette. To gain back his losses Bob assembles a cunning heist, but will it go to plan? Come see Bob Le Flambeur, a stylish roller coaster and a true piece of classic French cinema that was one of the major inspirations of Ocean’s 11.

Vous décidez ! A winter event in Rochester of your choosing

AFMSP plans to bring a season French event to Rochester this winter season.
Choose between the following two options and email your vote to Sara at culture@afmsp.org.

La Fête des Rois

A celebration that typically falls two weeks after Christmas (Noël), we’d like to share the tradition with Rochester this holiday season! The main feature of the holiday is of course la galette des rois, a delectable puff pasty and frangipane cake à ne pas rater.
La Chandeleur

Also known as crêpe day (miam miam), la Chandeleur is a French holiday where people traditionally eat crêpes and drink cidre. Some say the crêpes symbolize the return of sunny days as winter draws to a close, but others say it represents prosperity as we use flour from the last harvest. Either way, c’est délicieux.
