Next Ciné Club:
Maestro, un film de Léa Fazer

Mercredi, le 20 mars à 18h30
Date de sortie: 2013

Wednesday, March 20 at 6:30 pm
Release date: 2013

Synopsis:

A delightful “fish out of water” comedy about a young struggling actor who succeeds in getting cast by an experienced director in his bucolic masterpiece. The film is inspired by Nouvelle Vague director Eric Rohmer’s collaboration with actor Jocelyn Quivrin (who co-wrote the script with Swiss director Léa Fazer) on the film “Les Amours d’Astrée et de Céladon”.

Maestro plays on the stark contrast between the realities of film production and both our fictional directors’ conservative methods and our hero’s glamorous expectations. But this last one will get a lot more than he bargained for in the end. This refined but unpretentious comedy, whose style, with its balance of witty dialogue and funny visual gags, has much to offer in the way of laughs.

All Ciné Club screenings are free, but please consider making a $5 donation in person or by registering in advance here to support our cultural programming in Rochester!

Vous avez voté !
A winter event in Rochester of your choosing…

AFMSP worked to bring a French event to Rochester this winter season, but unfortunately we are postponing.
Merci à tous et à toutes qui ont voté ! Thank you to all who voted!

The winner was…

La Chandeleur

Also known as crêpe day (miam miam), la Chandeleur is a French holiday where people traditionally eat crêpes and drink cidre. Some say the crêpes symbolize the return of sunny days as winter draws to a close, but others say it represents prosperity as we use flour from the last harvest. Either way, c’est délicieux.

This year’s Chandeleur celebration has been postponed! Stay tuned for a make-up event in Rochester coming this spring…
