Ciné Club - "Compartiment tueurs"

Join us at the Alliance for a Francophone movie night as we watch the 1965 crime thriller Compartiment tueurs, directed by Costa-Gavras and starring famous French singer and actor Yves Montand!

Based on the novel of the same name by popular crime novelist Sébastien Japrisot, this movie also serves as Costa-Gavros’s directoral debut.

Six people travel by train overnight from Marseilles to Paris. When the train arrives at its destination, one of the passengers, a girl, is found dead in a sleeping berth. The police led by Inspector Grazzi (played by Yves Montand) investigate the other five passengers, suspecting that one of them was responsible. However, as the investigation is stepped up, the other passengers start turning up dead. It is then up to the last remaining two to solve the case, before they become the next victims.

Film will be shown in French with English subtitles. This film contains themes of violence and some themes of sexuality; recommended for ages 13 and up.

This event will be open to the public free of charge! You can help support the continued presence of cultural programs which benefit our community. Please consider making a $10 donation towards this event and future projects by registering below.
