About the film

A chronicle of restoration
A documentary film by Anne Savalli (52 minutes - 2016)
June 2014: the next major phase of the restoration of Chartres Cathedral has begun, a project that will take two-and-a-half years to complete. The most spectacular and representative areas of the cathedral are being renovated: the nave, with its soaring 35 meter walls and the windows surrounding it, reputedly the largest collection of 12th and 13th century stained glass in Europe under one roof. The documentary takes a look at the work of the restorers, conservators, scientists and architects who share their passion behind the scenes for this exceptional historic and cultural site.
