  • Job Title: French Instructor for children

    Type: Part-time, 3 - 10 hours per week (must be available weekday afternoons and Saturdays); Non-exempt

    Salary: Based on experience

    Duties and Responsibilities:

     Prepare and teach Alliance Française classes using methods and materials provided.

     Prepare and teach Alliance Française classes in schools off-site using tools provided and by creating activities.

     Work with AF students and families; suggest resources to assist in French language learning.

     Draft course descriptions and curriculum, answer questions on AF classes.

     Attend staff meetings and open houses as requested.

     Represent Alliance Française in the community.

     Be an informational resource to members and non-members about AF educational programs, attend AF events.

    Minimum Qualifications:

     Native French speaker or equivalent. (C1 level)

     Educational background in Français Langue Etrangère (Licence, DAEFLE, DUFLE, Master…) and/or Elementary Education

     Prior work experience as a French teacher.

     Prior work experience teaching children

     Authorized to live and work in the US.

     Genuine enthusiasm for teaching children and for the French language.

     Effective class management skills

    Qualified candidates will be asked to complete a background check prior to hire.

    Preferred Qualifications:

     Computer proficiency and experience with interactive whiteboard (Smart Board) preferred.

     Prior AF experience

     Familiarity with the CEFR language levels and DELF/DALF exams

     Current driver’s license

  • Duration of 6 months
    Beginning June 2025
    Part-time, 10-15 hours per week

    Schedule:

    10-15 hours per week to be scheduled during the hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
    Occasional events in the evenings and/or on the weekends, which may count towards weekly hours. Exact days and times are flexible and to be determined with candidate and Cultural Programs Coordinator, and communicated to Administrative Coordinator.

    Position Description:
    Alliance Française Mpls/St Paul organizes nearly 150 cultural events per year, from informal social gatherings, such as a monthly breakfast or other small get-togethers, to large annual events, such as Bastille Day on the 14 of July or Mois de la Francophonie every March. These events include themes such as literature, music, theatre, gastronomy, geography, and much more. This is a group-oriented position.

    The Cultural Programming Intern will assist the Cultural Programs Coordinator in:
    ·Devise/Organize/Refine event details
    ·Contact guest speakers and/or vendors
    ·Write descriptions of upcoming events for online and printed publications
    ·Creation of marketing/advertising/social media materials
    ·Documenting event attendance in the Past Event Database
    ·Solicit donations

     Proficiency in both French and English is required for this position.

    Responsibilities:
    ·Maintain office hours at AFMSP
    ·Attendance at events will be counted among office hours
    ·Help with reception desk as needed; answer phones, unlocking the door, etc.
    ·Dress & behave professionally (business casual in office & semi-formal for events)
    ·Inform Cultural Programming Director and Administrative Coordinator of any scheduling changes or absences.
    ·Check email and Slack every shift; be prompt with response during office hours
    ·Sign up for AF newsletter, like on Facebook, follow on Twitter, link on LinkedIn
    ·Attend intern meetings to share ideas, tasks and updates


    Other Tasks:
    ·Arrange/put away furniture for events.
    ·Help develop and maintain social media promotions: Facebook, Twitter,
    LinkedIn and Instagram.
    ·Prepare materials for offsite events and attend them if possible.

    Benefits:

    This is an unpaid position. However, upon agreement with a school it may earn you school credits.

    Interns are invited to take free classes at AFMSP. (class materials and membership fee not included)

    Free onsite parking at AFMSP.

  • Type: part-time: 5 hours per week pedagogical/administrative work

    Compensation: $22 per hour administrative/pedagogical work 

    401(k) retirement plan with employer match, free parking. 


    Effective date: March 1, 2025


    Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

    • Coordinate requests for private tutoring; receive information from interested students, connect them with an instructor, manage follow up

    • Work with Education Director and Office Manager to ensure completion and recording of tutoring time and contracts

    • Communicate and promote private tutoring: develop promotional materials for private tutoring with Communications Coordinator and Graphic Design intern

    •  Attend staff meetings, open houses; represent the organization in the community


    Minimum Qualifications

    • Native French speaker or equivalent; bilingual English-French

    • Educational background in Français Langue Etrangère (Licence, Master, DUFLE, DAEFLE)

    • Prior experience as a French teacher, working with children and adults

    • Genuine enthusiasm for teaching and for the French language

    • Strong organizational and planning skills and attention to detail

    • Ability to develop a rapport with students and co-workers

    • Computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel)

    • Unrestricted work authorization in the U.S. required

    • Candidates will be asked to complete a background check prior to hire


    Preferred Qualifications

    • DELF exam certification

    • Prior AF experience preferred but not required
