Jim Reilly, piano, music by Mozart, Chopin, and Gabriel Fauré
with
Ben Cooper, tenor, in the first performance of The Danish Easel, three songs about Danish painters and painting, text (in English) and music by Jim Reilly
Jim Reilly is a pianist, tenor, and composer who has performed in twenty states of the U.S.A. as well as in Norway and Holland. He is the Music Director Emeritus at Mindekirken, Minnesota's only surviving Norwegian language church, and has a strong interest in Nordic music and culture, reflected in his newest composition to receive its première at this program, The Danish Easel. A long time member of and frequent performer at the Alliance Française, Jim speaks both French and Italian; his maternal grandfather spoke Faetar, a variety of Arpitan (franco-provenzale). In the songs he will be joined by his long-time collaborator Ben Cooper, a Minneapolis tenor whose most recent performance was a recital of Swedish Romantic song at the American Swedish Institute.
