During our month-long celebration of Madagascar, we will be showing two exhibitions in our Vaaler art Gallery.

‘‘MADAGASCAR LA CHATOYANTE’’

An accomplished photographer, Pierrot Men lives and works in Fianarantsoa, Madagascar. There, he leads the largest photography studio in the country, and through his work he displays his intimate knowledge of and love for his homeland. For nearly five decades, he has created stunning black and white images of the island’s people and landscapes, imbuing them with an authenticity which can only spring from deep familiarity. ‘‘FEMMES DE L’IHOROMBE’’
par KOLEANE FOXONET

Born in Betroka in Southern Madagacar, Koléane Foxonet is a photographer who combines her passion for environmental justice with her love of photography. After obtaining a Master’s Degree in African Studies from Sorbonne University, she started an NGO dedicated to providing water pumps to southern regions in Madagascar. Through her work, she highlights both rural and urban areas of Madagascar, displaying the dignity everyday life. This exhibition dedicated to the girls and women of the Ihorombe plateau, recounting their relationship with the land and water. Through Koléane Foxonet's lens, you will be able to discover this rural region of southern Madagascar where drinking water is scarce and the impacts of climate change are deeply felt.

After opening night on March 2 at 6pm, the exhibition will be open to visitors Monday through Thursday 9 am to 7 pm, and Fridays and Saturdays 9 am to 4 pm. The exhibition will be on display until April 1, 2023.
