La Mer Bretonne - Exposition de Kimerly Miller
Come admire the beautiful artwork of Kimerly Miller in our Vaaler Galerie!
When asked to describe La Mer Bretonne, Kimerly shared, “A few years ago, on the brink of retirement, I returned to “student” days in France by staying with a couple in the suburbs of St Brieuc (Côtes d’Armor) and volunteering as an English language specialist in a nearby middle school. Unlike in my actual student days, I had the resources to rent a car during my 8-week stay and spent my free time exploring the coastal areas of Brittany. As a Midwesterner the changing moods of the sea and the life of the people who live near it are unfamiliar to me except as an occasional visitor so my extended time in the region gave me the opportunity to explore aspects of coastal life in a more leisurely fashion. On sandy beaches and dramatic promontories, during sunny days and misty afternoons, from the shallow bay of St Brieuc to the breathtaking land’s end of Finistère I found something to pique my visual interest of La Mer Bretonne."
The opening of Kimerly’s exhibition will take place on Thursday, May 5 at 6 pm. After opening night the exhibition will be open to visitors Monday through Thursday 9 am to 7 pm, and Fridays and Saturdays 9 am to 4 pm. The exhibition will be on display until May 30th, 2022. It is free of charge, with a $10 suggested donation to support our cultural programs.
