WATER | A SYMPHONY
exhibition by ISABELLE HARMON
Join us for a dreamy exhibition featuring landscapes paintings by artist Isabelle Harmon and immerse yourself into a beautiful collection of seascapes, lake, river and waterfall scenes.
Water and I have a love affair that dates back to my childhood.
I am fascinated by the immensity of the ocean, the sound of waves crashing and breaking on the sand, the smooth, sweet, repetitive lapping of lake waters on rocks, the roar of a waterfall.
These sounds complement and intermingle with heaven’s colors, always changing, never still.
My wish is to draw you in with color, variations and composition.
I hope for you, the viewer, to enjoy the journey as much as I have delighted in bringing you there.
- Isabelle Harmon
Born in Dukhan, Persian Gulf, to a French father and English mother, Isabelle Harmon lived in the Middle East the first seven years of her life. In 1959, her family moved to London, England and she studied at the French Lycée.
After passing her Baccalauréat, she emigrated to France in 1971 where she studied Atelier Met De Penninghen Art school. For financial reasons, she had to interrupt her studies. She was saddened by this interruption but vowed to get back on track one day.
In 1995, she moved to Québec and became a Canadian citizen thinking she would spend the rest of her life in Canada. She had not counted on life throwing a wrench her plans. She came to Minnesota in the year 2000 and has been here even since.
‘‘Surrounded by 10.000 lakes, I cannot help but be inspired anew by water. I was at last able to return to my first love: Art. My brothers and my sister are artists. My father painted as did my French Grandfather. It’s in our blood you might say. It is where my soul lives.’’
After the opening night on Thursday, May 9 at 6 pm, the exhibition will be open to visitors Monday through Thursday 9 am to 7 pm, and Fridays and Saturdays 9 am to 4 pm. The exhibition will be on display until June 15, 2024.
