Découvrons le Togo !

In March, the Alliance Française of Mpls/St Paul will celebrate Togo during the Mois de la Francophonie, a month-long celebration of a French-speaking country!

Bordered by Ghana in the west, Benin to the east, and Burkina Faso to the north, Togo is a country in West Africa just off the coast of Guinea. It is a tropical, sub-Saharan nation with a population of about 8 million. The capitol, Lomé, is named after the Ewe phrase Alomé which means “in the alo trees” to designate the forest of alo that the city was built in.

From the Oti Plateau in the north, to the Guinean forests on the east and west, to the bustling seaside capitol Lomé in the south, Togo is a geographically and culturally diverse country, rich with natural resources and brimming with wildlife.
