Ciné Club - "Mourir à trente ans" - May 31 - Cancelled
Join us at the Alliance for a Francophone movie night as we watch the pivotal film about the May 1968 student uprising in Paris, Mourir à trente ans, directed by Romain Goupil!
A detailed film about the May 1968 left-wing uprising in Paris (and its dispiriting aftermath), Romain Goupil’s autobiographical documentary draws upon his film footage collected during his time in the movement, shot over 12 years as events unfolded. Goupil intercuts this old footage with newer material to pay tribute to his friend and fellow revolutionary Michel Recanati, a militant leader who went missing and eventually committed suicide at age 30.
This film won the Caméra d’Or and the Award of the Youth at the 1982 Cannes Film Festival. It also won the César Award for Best Debut.
Film will be shown in French with English subtitles. Recommended for ages 13 and up.
This event will be open to the public free of charge! You can help support the continued presence of cultural programs which benefit our community. Please consider making a $10 donation towards this event and future projects by registering below.
