About Sandra Smith
Sandra Smith taught French Literature and Translation at Cambridge University for many years before moving back to the States. She has lectured at Barnard, Columbia, Harvard and Sarah Lawrence. Her translations include, among others, Suite Française and twelve other works by Irène Némirovsky, The Stranger by Albert Camus, But You Did Not Come Back by Marceline Loridan-Ivens, The Necklace and Other Stories by Guy de Maupassant and Inseparable by Simone de Beauvoir. She has won the French American Foundation Translation Prize, the PEN Translation Prize and the National Jewish Book Award. She currently teaches for NYU.
