Indochine, 1945. Robert Tassen, jeune militaire français, est le seul survivant d'un massacre dans lequel son frère a péri sous ses yeux. Aveuglé par sa vengeance, Robert s'engage dans une quête solitaire et secrète à la recherche des assassins. Cependant, sa rencontre avec Maï, une jeune Indochinoise, va bouleverser ses croyances.
