Round Table Discussion on the French Presidential Election

As the French presidential elections quickly approach on April 9th and 23rd, the Alliance Française Mpls/St Paul is organizing a round table discussion with three panelists, Catherine Guisan, Mary Curtin, and AFMSP’s own Damien Sadrant. Join us the evening of Tuesday, April 5 at 7pm to learn about the candidates and key issues that French citizens are considering in their presidential choice.
Catherine Guisan
Catherine Guisan is a Visiting Associate Professor, Department of Political Science, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She is the author of Un sens à l’Europe: Gagner la paix (1950-2003) (Paris: Odile Jacob, 2003); and A Political Theory of Identity in European Integration: Memory and Policies (New York: Routledge: 2011), and many articles. She has taught courses on European Politics, Politics of Reconciliation and Democracy and the Other in French, Dutch and Russian Universities as well as at the U of MN.
Mary T. Curtin
Mary T. Curtin, PhD, a Minnesota native, and speaker of French, Polish, and Spanish, joined the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota as diplomat-in-residence in 2013 after a 25-year career as a Department of State Foreign Service Officer. With expertise in issues including Middle East policy; European affairs, including the EU and NATO; human rights and democratization, and non-proliferation, she teaches courses in foreign policy and diplomacy and serves as chair of the Humphrey School's global policy area.
Damien Sadrant
Damien has taught French at the Alliance since 2011. He comes from Vendée, on the French Atlantic coast, and now lives in Columbia Heights. He studied history and literature in Nantes. In a previous life he was a sailing instructor in Western France. When he’s not teaching, Damien plays guitar, cooks (he is a trained crêpier!) and he loves to fish and garden. He has a passion for language and culture, and absolutely loves grammar!
